This report details the design test and build of a
traction control system for the Universities 2007
Formula student race car.Using a 3rd nparty program
called CarSim two different types of control systems
were designed and evaluated in Matlab.Initial results
showed fuzzy logic can be used to implement an effective
control system; however the technique of torque reduction
associated with this method is too complex to integrate into
a budget microcontroller.

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008Gas Gathering System Rules of Thumb
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008Non-regulated gas gathering lines are frequently operated with considerably less
experienced-engineering input into their design and operation than either regulated
gathering lines or cross-country pipelines. This document is an attempt to provide some guidance to new engineers and operations personnel into the issues that need to be addressed to design and construct an “operable” gathering line. It not intended to address the issues involved in making a line meet industry standards or any of the various regulations – this document should be seen as a way to improve how well a system can be operated after it has been designed to industry standards and government regulations

Panelling Design and Joint Construction of concrete slabs
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008The correct layout and the correct construction of joints are important determinants of the long term performance of concrete pavements. This Guidance Note aims to
produce information on which consistent design and construction practice can be
based.talks about Panelling Design,Joint Construction with drawings

Joints in concrete slaps in grade
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008People outside the construction business wonder what can be complicated about a “cement” floor. If they only knew. The concrete floor is often the most used, and noticed, part of the building. With that amount of importance, one would think that we would usually get them right. Unfortunately, it is all too rare that the concrete floor meets the criteria of Owner, design professional and contactor through out the life of the building.

Solar Hot Water Systems
Sunday, September 28th, 2008This new Tip on solar hot water systems is available to download. The Tip describes the main types of solar collectors – flat-plate and evacuated glass-tube – and gives information on how to design a system. With increasing demand for solar systems in the UK, it is important that plumbers have a good working knowledge of these types of systems

Pipe Sizing of Domestic Gas Pipework
Sunday, September 28th, 2008Manufacturer’s installation instructions
will only give guidance on the
appropriate diameter of tube to be used
to supply their own gas appliance.Where
more than one appliance is to be
installed, it is necessary to determine
suitable tube diameters for the
installation that can satisfy the maximum
demand without excessive pressure loss.

Domestic Gas Pipework Part 2 – Installation & Testing
Sunday, September 28th, 2008Installing tube in walls and floors
Typical methods of installing gas
piping in walls and floors are shown in
Figure 3.Where copper tube is to be
buried in solid floors or walls, the
number of joints should be kept to a
minimum. Ideally the tube should be
run in a preformed duct with a suitable
protective cover. Use plastic sheathed
copper laid on top of the base
concrete and soundness test the
installation piping before wrapping any
joints and covering with a suitable
screed

Concrete Repair Terminology
Sunday, September 28th, 2008in this file alot of definitions will be discussed
the way will be like this
accelerator—(1) a substance which, when added to a cementitious material, increases the rate of hydration of the hydraulic cement, shortens the time of setting, or increases the rate of hardening, strength development, or both; (2) any substance which increases the rate of a chemical reaction.
alkali—salts of alkali metals, specifically sodium and potassium, occurring in constituents of concrete and mortar; usually expressed in chemical analyses as the oxides Na20 and K20.

Magnetocaloric Cooling of Electric Machines
Sunday, September 28th, 2008The performance and efficiency of electric machines (induction motors, generators, and transformers) is limited due to thermal constraints in the coils.
1 These constraints can be relaxed somewhat by circulating air through the air gaps in the machines. However, such approaches require the addition of pumping mechanisms and are limited due to the thermal conductivity of air

Advanced Electric Machines:An Overview of Materials
Sunday, September 28th, 2008The integration of advances in power electronics, digital
signal processors, and control science with machine design
science continues to revolutionize electric machine technol-
ogy.[1]Advances in materials technologies contribute to per-
formance successes. The integration of materials in this proc-
ess often appears to be a matter of choosing one commercially
available material versus another. The value of materials sci-
ence and technology (S&T;) remains to be fully exploited
